The latest version of the Visual Studio Achievements extension includes 19 new achievements oriented toward Windows Store app development. These new achievements can be earned in JavaScript, C#, Visual Basic, and C++.

With the Visual Studio Achievements extension, you unlock achievements based on your activity in Visual Studio. Your code is analyzed on a background thread each time you compile. In addition, the extension listens for certain events and actions that you might perform in Visual Studio, reporting progress on these events to the server. In the video, Karsten Januszewski likens it to a video game, but one that can help you to discover new things in Visual Studio. And your Channel 9 profile is updated with any achievements you earn.
